Lone Pine. CA
Right below the campground is where they filmed 
most of the Westerns from the 20' to 50's and
some newer films--Iron Man, Gladiator

 North of Lone Pine is the Manzanar War
Relocation Center, where in 1942,
 Japanese American citizens were interned
during World War II, National Historic Site.
One of eight watchtowers surrounded by barbed wire.  
 More than 10,000 people were interned here
Summers  100 degree heat, Winters 40 degrees
and windy
 Typical barracks
500 acre housing site with 504 barracks
organized into 36 blocks, 200-400 living in 
each block.  
Fun among the rocks
 Back on US 395 going north
 Climbing into the mountains
 Snow capped peaks
 Coming into Mammoth Lakes
 Cold Water Creek
 From 104 degrees to 54 when we arrived
in the 40's at night -elevation 8000 feet

Navigating between the rocks was fun
